Travel Award Grants

A limited number of travel awards are available for attendance at the 24th American Peptide Symposium. The Travel Award Committee's mission is to administer financial support to offset a portion of registration fees, travel and housing expenses in order to provide a broad opportunity for young investigators to participate in a major scientific event, meet leaders and colleagues in the field, and present their research projects to the scientific community.

Expenses Covered
In most instances awards will be granted to cover registration fees and/or lodging expenses at the Hyatt Grand Cypress Hotel in Orlando. If funds are available to cover all or a portion of airfare for travel to the meeting, these expenses will be reimbursed after the Symposium and only after documentation of expenses incurred has been submitted.

Eligibility
Awards will only be given to applicants who have submitted an abstract to present at the Symposium (oral or poster) and awards will be subject to approval by the Program Committee. Travel grants are restricted to young investigators (graduate and postdoctoral researchers) within 3 years of completion of Ph.D. Individual supplements may vary. Applicants are required to attend the entire meeting.

Submissions are assessed for:

  • Eligibility.
  • Scientific evaluation of the project (significance and innovation).
  • Financial need.
  • Previous Travel Awards received.
  • Proximity to graduation and end of training.
  • Coverage of a wide range of symposium topics.
  • Financial aid distribution to provide as many awards as possible at a level of support that is financially meaningful.

Application Instructions
Those wishing to apply for a travel grant should send electronically a complete application package (if possible as a single pdf file) containing:

  1. A completed application form
  2. A letter of recommendation from their supervisor with electronic signature.
  3. A copy of the abstract submitted to the Symposium (include the reference number for your submission).
  4. A brief curriculum vitae (two pages maximum).
  5. A one-page essay describing their research focus and reasons for wishing to attend this Symposium.
  6. On-line service or travel agency estimate for airfare expenses.
